With a modern and unique renegotiation of traditional landscape painting as the
central axis of his artistic practice, George Manouzas builds a universe of his own,
sometimes taking as a starting point a real, existing place, while other times
constructing this universe on the basis of an image that is born entirely in his mind.
Dominated by the natural - artificial (urban) environment dichotomy, his works are
made of a wide variety of media, such as charcoal, acrylics, acrylic markers, pencils...
The artist is in a constant search of new means of expression changing from small to
large scale painting, from paper to canvas surfaces, from black and white to a rich
colour palette, from distinct outlines to painterly undefined forms and finally to an
almost expressionistic impasto.
